Hi!

I am looking for feedback on my PC list, this is my first PC build so I want to make sure everything is okay.

cpu

Intel Core i5-12400F

Cpu cooler

Cooler Master MasterLiquid 240L Core

motherboard

MSI PRO Z790-P WIFI

Ram

Kingston FURY Beast (1 x 32 GB)

Main storage

Crucial P3 Plus 500 GB

Extra storage

Seagate Barracuda XT 3 TB

Graphics card

Founders Edition 1080

Case

NZXT H510i

Power Supply

Corsair RM850x

I have already bought the CPU, the case, and do not want to upgrade GPU yet, but am looking at the 3080

I am happy with most of this, but am unsure about the CPU cooler, so any suggestions there would be useful.

Thank you in advance.

UPDATE

I have changed a few parts

Motherboard seems a bit overkill, unless you are planning to future-proof this build for a high-end drop-in later down the line

I am planning on this PC being the machine i can just upgrade CPU and GPU, and not worry about anything else

Use 2x 16GB sticks, not 1x 32GB

Right now it is cheaper for me to go 1x32 over 2x16, i was going to see which is cheapest on prime day and choose that. Would it still be better to go for 2x16?

It is not good for the framerate consistency to run single channel, but it depends on the resolution and the game. I think DDR5 is generally less affected than DDR4 because it has higher throughput than DDR4 anyway, but I haven't seen that many benchmarks.

The 12400 is pretty easy to cool, even though the stock cooler (in the CPU box) can do it without much trouble. A peerless assassin or phantom spirit wouldn't break a sweat.

Cooler is overkill unless you really want one for looks

Get 2x16GB RAM not 1x32

Get a larger SSD, at least 1TB

PSU is overkill, but ok for a future 3080 (which isn't that good, rather get a 4070)

AMD R9  7950X3D CPU/ Asus ROG STRIX X670E-E board/ 2x32GB G-Skill Trident Z Neo 6000CL30 RAM ASUS TUF Gaming AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX OC Edition GPU/ Phanteks P600S case /  Arctic Liquid Freezer III 360 ARGB cooler/  2TB WD SN850 NVme + 2TB Crucial T500  NVme  + 4TB Toshiba X300 HDD / Corsair RM850x PSU/ Alienware AW3420DW 34" 120Hz 3440x1440p monitor / ASUS ROG AZOTH keyboard/ Logitech G PRO X Superlight mouse / Audeze Maxwell headphones

Yeah, if you stick with this mobo you can just drop in the best CPU later down the line and get a nice performance boost

Yes, there will be a performance boost with dual channel

Console.WriteLine("Hello World!");
