Budget (including currency): ~$1,500+usd

Country: United States

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Some School work and web browsing, plus media streaming, but primary use will be gaming including: Minecraft(modded), Fortnite, GTA V, Cyberpunk, etc.

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): https://pcpartpicker.com/list/X2Wz4M

I'm currently using a dual monitor setup. They are both 27in with my main being 1440p 144hz and my second is a cheap 1080p 60hz. I would like to in the future have a wide 1440p 240hz display, but will wait at least a year on that. I'm upgrading from a R5 3600 and a rtx 3070 with 32gb of ram, which runs most games pretty well, but I would like more. I'm also going to build a new PC for my brother from the leftover parts, so I will only be saving the storage and Case from my old build, the rest of it needs to be new.

Cheaper cooler ( More than enough for a 7800X3D )

You dont need 1000w for your system and not a platinum rated PSU.

The MSI MAG A850GL comes with 10 year warranty and 850w is plenty for that setup and is half the price of what you picked.

I use a 750w for my own overclocked 7700x and overclocked RTX 4080.

I saved you $300 and you won't even be able to tell the difference.

Your cooler is super expensive when a peerless assassin or phantom spirit can cool the 7800X3D just fine.

Do you pay that much on energy prices that you'd ever recoup the cost of a platinum PSU?

How would a hyper 212 Evo handle cooling it? Also, do you think the rtx 3070ti is a good pairing, or would there be some bottlenecking somewhere?

I didn't realize the difference until I just looked it up, I now see there is only about a 2% difference in 100% load efficiency from gold to platinum, so I would only save a few dollars a year, definitely not worth it.

Thanks for the help!👍🏻

Thanks for the help, I just looked up the efficiency difference in gold vs platinum and realized it's definitely not worth it, I will also downgrade the wattage to something more reasonable.

The Peerless Assassin SE120 is the cooling king at the moment considering its price.

The Deepcool AK500 ZERO DARK is 60 dollars but it does look quite nice compared to the Peerless Assassin.

Yeah, you would have to play for a few decades before the platinum efficiency would pay for the 120 dollar upcharge compared to a gold rated 😄

850w is plenty for that system.
