Hello! I'm not a pro but I can try to help you. I will assume that you use a recent Windows for now.

 

1) Run the troubleshooter to see if it finds anything.

2) Change the assigned drive letter for another one.

3) Make sure that you plugged your drive in properly.

4) Update or reinstall your HDD driver through the device manager.

5) Plug your HDD into another SATA port on your motherboard. Even change the whole SATA cable if you can.

6) In the bottom left corner, search for CMD then right click on Command Prompt that appears above. Then select "Run as administrator". Then type this and press enter: chkdsk [your drive letter]:/f/r/x
