I have a Razer Kraken X 7.1 headset and a Logitech C720 webcam

For the longest time, I couldn't use the mic on the headset and had to resort to using my webcam mic as my mic.

so I decided to get a Y-splitter cable for my headset and be able to plug in both the mic and headphone jack, audio was coming through but mic was still not working.

then I unplugged the splitter and now both motherboard audio and case audio ports are being non-responsive.

I tested my headphones with other devices and sure enough it works fine and the mic on the headset is working as well. I'm going to try to use other audio peripherals to see if it's the motherboard that's giving me problems.

But I wanted to ask, is it possible that I shorted the audio ports on mobo and case?

I also noticed that anytime I plug in my headphones windows or realtek gives me a prompt asking I've plugged in a headphones, mic in or line in. Could that also have an impact?

At this point I'm considering just getting a USB audio interface like a Behringer UM2 and maybe a dedicated mic like a Fifine k669b.

But I want to know if I can fix this issue first.

IEM: planning to get the KBEAR KS2s
Please be patient with me, I'm fatally dumb and its honestly a miracle I've made it this far
