Limiting frames can be helpful in a lot of ways. I use it mostly to reduce heat output and give the game headroom. It really helps smooth the highs and lows so I have a consistent experience. But my monitor has a g-sync chip built in, so my setup can make use of overdrive as the frame rates exceed my the VRR range. Limiting your frames to under the monitor's maximum will definitely help with any issues in the higher ranges. Although that might not be a great idea for competitive games. Try it out. It doesn't hurt anything to limit frames. I mean if you play a game like Planet Coaster, for example, who cares about frames beyond 120 fps or so? Everything else is just generating heat in my opinion. But for a game like Rocket League or CSGO, you may want all the frames.
