Hi There,

I was wondering if you could spare some time to help me with my PC. It's not running like it used to and I want to know how I could fix it.

Yes, I have checked for viruses and cleaned up storage.
Yes, I have done my research but it's not bringing me anywhere.
Yes, I have set reasonable settings for my games and try to run as few apps as possible.
But obviously, I don't want to have to keep doing this each time.

Here is a list of my PC specs,
Motherboard: HP 0B54H (HP Z600 workstation)
CPU: Intel Xeon R X5650
RAM: 12 GB DDR 3
SSD: Sandisk SD85BAT 25661122ATA
HDD: Hitachi HUA722020ALA331
GPU: NVidia Gforce GTX1060 6 GB

These are my current issues: IT  IS  SLOW! Not only at booting up but also at downloads, app boots and general connectivity. A large part of this problem is most likely from my HDD. I'm running my Windows 10 OS off the SSD and am running everything else on the HDD. The PC feels outdated, I think this workstation originated in 2010 or so, but I got it in 2018 and at that time the HDD and GPU were new; however, most of its components are from an office work pre-built. It is all-around sluggish and I'd like to figure out why.

My goal is to have a good gaming machine but nothing too crazy, capable of running music software smoothly and upgrading to Windows 11 would be good. To clarify, I play games like Cyberpunk, Apex, Sea of Thieves, Sims 4 and Titanfall 2, primarily. I wanted to get into Helldivers 2 but because my CPU does not have AVX it does not boot. This has been my biggest hardware limitation so far.

I would appreciate it if you could point me in the right direction. Can you identify where the weak link is on specs alone or is there more info you need? Can my PC be saved on a budget or is it more cost effective to look for a replacement?

Thank you for your time and help.

After this period of time, the best thing to do is to reinstall Windows, as it's something that just happens for various reasons and as long as all of the components are working well, you should see a noticeable improvement.

Also, if you can, boot off of the HD and put everything else on the SSD, just by doing that will make a difference.
