Vertically mounting GPU.

I’ve had my PC for about 2 years now and I’m starting to get a little used to it. I just got a few new fans and that lian li strimmer 24 pin. I have a 3090 ti ftw3 and it’s a cool looking GPU but I wanted to see if vertically mounting it would be a terrible idea. It would look a lot cooler but from what I’ve been seeing is worse for performance. I already have it in on a mounting bracket so the whole “it’s stops gpu sag” argument doesn’t matter in my situation. The case is the Corsair 4000d. Is vertically mounting a bad idea? Will I lose those precious frames? Is the drop worth the drown?

Objectively speaking (coming from someone who despises RGB), this is a good look. PCIE extensions can be a bit of a pain in the ass time to time and are a bit delicate. AFAIK you also have to pay a premium for PCIE4 ones (Corsair does have one I think). Overall, you dont gain much aesthetically by switching that particular card to a vertical mount. Fans on these EVGA 3090tis were not RGB IIRC.

you lose the GPUs side if you flip it upside up, I like cases with GPUs facing their side out personally

i don't know about the 4000d's implementation of vertical gpu, but in most cases, the card ends up being smushed up against the glass, worsening temps

I would not attempt unless you have a sizeable gap between the fans and the window panel.
