vpns and network management software

so im looking for 2 things

 

1) i need a VPN or i want a vpn.....either way im in the market for a VPN. im in the UK, but want to access content thats maybe locked to other regions (usa mainly), i have high usage so data caps are either a no no or they must be high and im looking for something fairly inexpensive free would be great but i dont mind paying for extra features. if any one has any ideas or can give tips n what to look for that would be awesome.

 

2) i also would like something to manage my network traffic on my PC. i have lots of things going on on my pc all accessing the net at the same time and i would like something that prioritises different traffic over one another say chrome over a box sync account that is running in the background etc.  i intend to get an old pc and tun it into a switch/router (obviously needs more research) and have that do all the donkey work in the futre but for now..... so yeah is there anything out there like this and if so can you point me in the right direction please

i recommend "Private Internet Access" for your VPN, it costs but its great, and with 24/7 live chat that helps you within a few minutes i have very much liked my time with them.

For the router part you can flash it with DD-WRT or Tomato (if the router supports it) and setup the VPN on that.

If you aren't using ad block on Google Chrome I'd disable it and click on the support us link for hotspot shield.

Hotspot Shield sucks if you are not in the US, the speeds are horrible compared to VPNs line Private Internet Access, etc... .
