Hello I have an,

fx-4100 as the cpu

Asus M5A78l-mlx plus as the mobo

and I was thinking would a r9 280x fit in this mother board?

I didn't buy the ram and psu yet or case.

If you plan on getting a 280x, i'd upgrade the CPU. I wouldn't personally get a 280x because with my experience the 270/280/290x all have stuttering issues in gameplay so maybe go for a GTX 760 or 770.

I wanted this build to use amd parts. I like the features and designs but my main worry is will it fit in the motherboard or should i get a smaller gpu. I dont know much about sizes of gpus but it seems pretty big and for my first build im kinda scared if mess up and buy something incompatible.

the only thing that can be incompatible is the case :)

CPU will seriously hamper your cards performance in a lot of todays games.

FX 8320 is a good deal.
