Budget (including currency): $1,000 aud

Country: Australia

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: 4k plex streaming Nas

Other details: 4 nvme slots minimum, 4 sata slots minimum for 4 HDD.

want to maintain upgradability in terms of CPU and GPU.

I'm currently thinking this How does this look for a plex Nas? https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/TZ2nh3 ?

I'm not too sure about the case, cpu or power supply either.

Thank you

Is this doing anything other than plex duty? If not, why do you need 4 nvme slots?

Just a few thoughts...

1) Upgrade to the 12400 if you can. It has more cores.

2) The motherboard seems completely overkill for a NAS running Plex.

3) You don't need a separate cooler. The 12100 and 12400 both come with stock coolers. You should consider buying a bending correction frame instead for 12, 13, or 14 gen Intel processors.

4) Why do you need 4 NVME ports?

Thank you both for responding.

4 nvme slots because I have many ssd's available at home, they use less power and are more quiet than HDD.

I also want it to be future proof say in the future I want to use it for more than just plex, so while I agree have 4nvme slots and the board is overkill I like the ability to have the option to customise as I need in the future.

What do you both think about the case and power supply?

The case is a little too pretty for a nas. But if it’s in your budget and you like it then it is perfect. The PSU seems a little lower quality than I would prefer for a device running 24/7, but servers and nas don’t use a ton of electricity so you are probably okay. Normally it’s best to purchase items from the tier A and B lists: https://cultists.network/140/psu-tier-list/ but I think you can get away with a tier C as long as you are t pushing it. The GX1 falls under tier C.
