CS2 is more GPU focused than CS1

That's strange, some people say CPU, some GPU. Is there a way to find out which one it is?

watch videos comparing various CPUs and GPUs in the game.

 

Personally I would get the 7800X3D setup, as it's the best gaming CPU currently.   So you'll have that concern off your shoulders.  If you go #1, you'll have upgrades for both positions.

 

What you asked tho was in a vacuum, so all else being equal your #1 should perform slightly better.

use benchmarks on youtube, the GPU is maxed out on CS2 whereas on CS GO it isn't

@filpo @Dedayog yeah but CPU benchmarks usually use fastest GPU and GPU benchmarks fastest CPU, how can you know?

it wasn't maxing out before though, hence showing that cs go wasn't as gpu intensive

yeah but CSGO was released when Nvidia just released GTX 600 series...

I just read on Reddit that CS2 is more CPU intensive if you set the settings to low, and more GPU intensive if you set it to high. That makes sense to me

Yes, but that's artificially forcing things.  Can be done with almost any game.

Doesn't matter, still applies.  Regardless when a game came out, we look at how it acts on any hardware.

yeah but when game updates their graphics and I'm playing on GT 730, I wouldn't necessairly be basing my reasoning of the game being suddenly GPU intensive because my GT 730 is utilized fully,

 

though CS2 does seem to be actually GPU intensive thanks to it's improved graphics, one GN video and I can see the 4090 + CPU spectrum really shows the GPU intensity even on low settings,

Yeah, we extraolate a bit as well, educated guessing.  It's not a perfect science, but ballpark close enough.
