I found a pinned guide on overclocking, but it was made in 2013 and was written in as much depth as the Bible (nothing against my jesus tho)

Is there a simple way to overclock my 12th gen i5-12400 and my 32 gigs of 3200 mhz ddr4?

I wanted to make Starfield run as best as possible. Internet keeps telling me my setup is "fine i guess" (what i already mentioned + ssd and gtx 1660 super)

This is my RAM amazon page. It said it supported XMP, but I couldn't find it in BIOS. I installed the ram yesterday, works great.

non k 12th gen and up have locked imc volt so cant even do 3600

non k 12th gen can be overclocked if you have a board with an external clockgen like the b660m/b760m pg riptide

I'd say just watch an XMP guide, that's a pretty good start:

running an optiplex. tbh it works fine for most games. i can run world of tanks pc at max graphics and red dead two without noticing bad graphical objects and things, no lag at all. my single core speed is higher than most of its generation's processors.

what about overclocking the ram?

yeah no xmp there should have bought 3200c22 jedec unless those sticks already have a 3200c22 jedec profile

dogshit bios with no adjustments so no xmp and probably no ram timing adjustment, basically nothing related to tweaking the hardware and more like enabling random stuff like virtualization support

i have CL16, are you referring to CL22? youre speaking in martian

is there a modification i can install? for instance, my wifi card doesnt support random MAC addresses so i installed a program that does it, is there something similar for XMP

nope

ram timing adjustment from windows is possible but then youd have to adjust em every time you reboot and you wont really see that much of a performance diff even if you are tuning the secondaries/tertiaries

if you really wanted to oc then go ryzen or get a k cpu with a z board or at the very least a board with an external clockgen

though since your games seem to be running just fine you really dont have to worry about tuning your system, just enjoy the performance and when you feel like it isnt enough anymore then you can just resell the optiplex and build another pc

i felt as it if I wanted to play Starfield, I might have to do something.

wait, what if i created a program in regedit that applied the OC programming on startup?

i mean if you could automate it that might work but im also unsure of a program that lets you tweak ram timings on windows for ddr4
