Hi Linusers

planning to build a new rig for the end of the year, my current build is on my sig or my profile I guess,

would it be wiser to wait for the skylake arch down the road on 2015 rather than broadwell at the end of the year ?

what do you think ?

wait for the one after skylake. that is if skylake doenst bring revolutionary speeds like sandy did. i mean you have the most modern architecture, and BW will be just a die shrink anyway, and most of the space will go to the Iris Pro GPU

I sure hope it does, I want to see a true successor to Sandy Bridge

Wait for neither, unless you like 8GB DDR4 at the cost of an i7.

What do you need a new rig at the end of the year for you have a solid machine? Your CPU will be great for years.  Unless you just want to build another one... just buy what ever is out at the time dont bother waiting like a year for some range of CPUs to come out if broadwell is out buy that

I always sell a machine after 14 months, I got pretty good at convincing people to buy my rig before new architecture release so that the price doesn't drop dramatically !!! ^^ but as X4X3R said (cool name btw) DDR4 PCI-E Gen4, totally agree !

Your rig can easily hold up for 3 more years

Specs are on my profile page
