Windows 8.1 Error

Hi. I am using windows 8.1 operating system on my PC which is a custom build. I have been using it for months but all of a sudden just recently I have been getting the BSOD. It comes up with an error that says "Kernal_Data_Inpage_Error". Does anyone on here know how to fix this? Thanks for your help.

1)Check your hard disk. CHKDSK or similar

2)If that doesn't alert you to the problem check your RAM.  Memtest(?)
