Hello fellow enthusiasts. I have run into a problem with my bios for my Gigabyte R5 KD Gaming laptop. I hadnt updated it in a little over a year and when I did after doing maintenance on the internals, I.E. cleaning and repasting, I figured I would go ahead and do so. well I went from having a great laptop, to now a laptop that I can't tune(overclock), control the fans and can no longer configure my RGB. The gigabyte control center also no longer recognizes that its a gigabyte product. Please help. I cant even find the old bios file to roll it back. My old bios was from 2022 and it was amazing. The old bios looked like the red picture and the new one is the garbage insyde one.

...where did you download this BIOS update from?

Corps aren't your friends. "Bottleneck calculators" are BS. Only suckers buy based on brand. It's your PC, do what makes you happy.  If your build meets your needs, you don't need anyone else to "rate" it for you. And talking about being part of a "master race" is cringe. Watch this space for further truths people need to hear.

Do you remember what version you had previously? Why did you decide to update your BIOS?

FB05 If I can find the old bios name I will definitely post it

Can you post a screenshot from CPU-Z of the Mainboard tab?

I suspect the BIOS change may be causing your issues. Unfortunately, I'm not sure how you could get the old BIOS back - there might be a repository somewhere, or maybe Gigabyte could send you the BIOS that originally shipped with your laptop.

So I found a temporary work around for now to help keep my temps down. Gigabyte has an app that allows you to control the fans but i had to really dig to find it. The application is called Gigabyte easytune. It works well for what I need now, but im definetly not going with a gigabyte laptop next time I upgrade. This is a bigger headache then its worth. Any suggestions for a good tunable laptop. Sadly I dont have the space where I live to build a new desktop yet, so I need a laptop. I have heard good things about Asus TUF gaming laptops, my brother even had one and never had any issues, but im definetly open for suggestions.
