no

n some games there is a decent jump from PCIe 3 to 4

that's mostly for budget gpus where the bus lane is quite small and at that point, there might be from pcie 4 to pcie 5. But if you're getting pcie 5 for a budget gpu I'd rather put that to a better gpu

Or will it be absolutely ages before PCIe 5 GPU's even reach the market?

They might implement it in 50 series, there have been rumours, but AFAIK it's not known

I am in the market for a new motherboard with an upcoming pc upgrade, is it worth it to consider PCIe 5 yet?? In some games there is a decent jump from PCIe 3 to 4, so I am wondering if it is more worthwhile spending extra on a good motherboard now to save me buying another later down the line. Or will it be absolutely ages before PCIe 5 GPU's even reach the market?

Console.WriteLine("Hello World!");

So basically it doesn't matter for now? I'll just get the best board I can regardless of PCIe gen.

Even if they do, it's unlikely that it is going to give any benefits, unless they push out low end GPUs with 2 lanes or something.

PCIe 4.0 really only makes a difference on low end GPUs with 4 lanes (e.g. RX 6400/6500 XT) and little to no difference on GPUs with 8 lanes (e.g. RX 6600).

For GPUs with 16 lanes theres basically no difference between Gen 3 and Gen 4.

Remember to either quote or @mention others, so they are notified of your reply

no! considering PCIe 5.0 for your upcoming PC upgrade is mostly not yet worth it for most users
