Hi guys! I need a little help buying a new laptop since I've been out of the laptop market for way too long.

Needs:

  • Requirements: Suitable for gaming, programming (Prolog, Docker/K8s, Vue, MongoDB, VSCode), machine learning (Python, Anaconda, Jupyter Notebooks...), heavy IDEs (s/o to JetBrains), big data processing tasks (Spark, DataBricks Notebooks).

  • VM capabilities

  • Portability is a big plus for commuting between various locations.

  • Ability to handle Unity, Blender, 3D modeling.

Goal: High-end laptop that lasts me up to 5-7 years at great speeds, suitable for gaming, data/AI projects, entertainment... Just anything that I throw at it actually.

Budget: ~€3k

Location: Belgium, EU (for pricing considerations).

Current Considerations:

  1. Zephyrus G14 (2024) GA403UI-QS041W: Ryzen 9, RTX 4070, 16*2 LPDDR5X RAM.

  2. M3 Pro MacBook Pro: 11-core CPU, 36GB RAM, 1TB SSD.

  3. HP Omen Transcend 14: Ultra 9 185H | RTX 4070 Mobile | 32 GB

  4. Haven't seen many other competing options really?

I got a feeling that 14" laptops got lots to offer. But I'm also open for 15-16" laptops if their performance is way better. 95% of the time I'm plugged in a screen, so gaming, content consumption etc. can be performed on either one.

Side note: I already bought so many dongles... So having a laptop with only type-C ports wouldn't bother me lol

Razer Blade?

I also thought about the Razer Blade; but then stumbled upon this Yoga Pro 9i. Has a better CPU, 4x the RAM. But then again, It's not a dedicated gaming laptop so I'm not whether or not it will perform as good as the Razer Blade since it has no vapor chamber.

I also read from lots of reviews that a 4070M when adding more than 100W power to it (like the 110W+15W of the Razer Blade), basically performs almost the same as a 100W one (the Yoga Pro).
