Some advice would be nice... :)

Ok, first, very helpful stuff. just a couple of questions.

I looked into that cheaper motherboard, and it uses a B-series chipset. which google claims to be less of a good match for the power of an i5 (which I would like to stick with for now) when compared to the Z-series chipset. is this a legitimate concern?

Also, what is the difference between PCIe 4.0x4 and 3.0x4 (the brand of M.2 you chose has the 4.0x4 specs)

*EDIT

all the components I picked do indeed fit the case

PCIe 4 vs 3 is just the generation of PCIe available for the SSD to use, generally the limitatin of speed is the PCIe generation, 3 being around 3000/3500mbps, 4 around 7500 or so, gen 5, we havent really seen SSDs hit its peak, come very close but not just there yet, there are a few perks to the samsung over the crucial but the main difference is that its 3500/3000mbps R/W for the samsung and 5000/3600 R/W for the crucial, and of course 4x the storage in the crucial

The B-series chipset is perfectly fine for an i5, honestly itll run an i9 no issue either

But now that i think about it it probably wont overclock, im thinking of AMDs B series boards, they work a little differently

Try this instead

Budget (including currency): 1500 USD (max)

Country: USA

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for:  Video editing, streaming, maybe some newer games.

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

In short, I just want something reliable and powerful that will last we a while and I can build myself for a decent price. I also went Mini RTX for this build, cuz I like compact stuff. I also want to be able to dabble in overclocking, for no reason other than I want to learn and experiment more with computers [I think they are cool :)] I have done some research, but I want to lower the price tag on my list. I already have a mouse and speakers, but I need (probably only want but whatever) a nice cheap, backlit mechanical keyboard and a 1080p 100Hz monitor.

That's the short, here's the long (aka why I picked what I did).

DISCLAIMER: the following text is written as if there is no question about my decisions, but please, advise as necessary to save my wallet.

first, here's the list: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/TD4mBL

The CPU, RAM and GPU I selected because they all seemed to have the right performance specs to work well together. I chose intel cuz I've grown up on intel and know there CPUs pretty well. I went with 250 gigs of Samsung M.2 cuz I can upgrade space later, plus I hear Samsung SSDs are good.. The Noctua Redux CPU cooler cuz Linus totally sold it on his video reviewing it. I chose the PSU that I did cuz Part Picker (and LTT YouTube vids) made it sound like the perfect fit. I chose the Thermaltake tower 100 both for aesthetics and practicality (again, a mini ITX build). I chose the motherboard that I did cuz it fit everything else and is overclockable. please advise to help lower my price tag from $1,556 to something like $1400. Thanks in advance.

not bad, but gpu is a bit underpowered, cooler and motherboard are a bit overpriced.

Samsung SSDs are good but they come with the highest brand tax

Are you knuckling down on staying intel? I changed to AMD after 3 straight intel CPUs and i havent regretted it

For PSUs always consult the tierlist: https://cultists.network/140/psu-tier-list/

Other than that looks good, only thing is with mini itx you have to be careful of part sizing, does that cooler fit in that case? The gpu? etc

That being said ill see what i can do

Same cpu, much better cooler for cheaper

Wifi included overclockable itx mobo for $100 less

1TB NVMe SSD for the same price

Massively better graphics card for not a whole lot more, about 60% or more faster, brand new generation so that gap will only increase as driver updates increase performance of these cards and 12GB VRAM vs 6GB

Upgraded power supply to a better tier in the tierlist and to fully modular as with itx builds, non-fully modular PSUs can be horrendous to work with

I think thats all the upgrades covered, only thing that was downgraded was the motherboard but should be no issue there

Also brought cost down to below 1375

Any questions or anything feel free to ask!

Well if you're buying from Amazon always remember to save a buck look at the used section and look for "Amazon Warehouse" Those can be brand new slight damage to the box and nothing wrong with the product and save you 20% or more. I saved about $200 on parts in my PC.

Weird choices (a 1660 ?? 250GB SSD ???) , I'd go with this instead

The monitor looks not that good but budget don't allow for a good one
