RAM upgrade

Go to solution Solved by ImWilly,

Your workstation should be compatible with the Crucial RAM

Although if you're aiming for the upgrade, you could be a kit of 2 DIMMs 8GB of RAM

I currently have a HP Z238 which I am planning on upgrading. It currently has 4x2 GB ram. Its model is Samsung M378A5244CB0-CRC. I was looking to put a Crucial 8GB DDR4 1.2v 2400Mhz CL17 UDIMM RAM Memory Module for Desktop (CB8GU2400).But I read online it’s not recommended to do this so instead of this I was thought I can put 2 of Crucial Basics 4GB DDR4 2400MHz Desktop Memory (CB4GU2400).Can anyone tell what I should do?

Sell the half rank samsung sticks and buy 2/4 8gb sticks or 16gb sticks depending on how much capacity you desire

Send a pic of the mobo just to check if all 4 slots are ddr4 and it isnt a mixed ddr3 ddr4 board

As for the rams where are you buying? Id reccomend looking on fb marketplace or whatever other classifieds sites and find someone selling alot of oem rams cause those are generally cheaper and you can request specific model numbers incase your hp doesnt support a particular ram ic for whatever reason

For 8gb sticks id reccomend samsung m378a1g43eb1/db0 or hynix hma41gu6afr8n though the hynixes should be easier to find cause i think all the hynix double sided (dual rank) 8gb sticks are afr based

For 16gb sticks hynix hma82gu6cjr/jjr/djr8n or samsung m378a2k43db1

All double sided sticks and judging by the 64gb max capacity unlikely to support 16gbit ics
