Power supply compatibility with 4070 SUPER.

Yes you can. No problem I use the RM750i with my RTX 4080 that requires 3x8pins.

You have 3x8pins and you only need 2x8pins for the RTX 4070 Super.

Use the 1x6+2pin single cable and the main plug on the one with 2 plugs. Ziptie the other part down the main cable.

Like in this picture just to the supplied cable that comes with the 4070 Super then that single plug into the GPU

This is required. You plug the power supply cables into that cable

The 8 pin that hangs off you can ziptie down the main cable to tuck it away somewhat.

The RM850e is a quality PSU with great cables and the 4070 Super draws 220w and each 8pin is rated for 150w. So if you want a cleaner look you can use just one of the cables with the 2 adapters, this is also fine.

This was very frowned upon back in the day with shit tier PSU's from 2007 but with modern quality PSU's this is fine to do.

So you have 2 options, both will work equally well

Which RM850e do you have? There are two. SKU CP-9020263 ATX3.0 version included 12+4 pin PCIe and SKU CP-9020249 ATX2.53 version without a 12+4 pin. If you have the latter you can get a 12+4 pin cable at Corsair SKU CP-8920284 which is a lot safer solution than the nVidia adapter cable.

Your PSU has a 12+4 pin cable. You don't need to use the Nvidia adaptor.

Okay so is there any draw back to using the 12VHPWR (12+4) pin alone, instead of the two PCIe 8-pin (6+2) to the RTX 4070 SUPER Power connector Adapter? Or is it just ultimately better?
