The first part of this post will explain what I have as my current network setup. I know the basics of networking but nothing complex. Within the past couple of months, I got my hands on the Asus ZenWifi Pro ET 12 duel setup to run them in a mesh. The reason for the mesh is my home is 4000 sq ft and one router just isn’t enough for the space. I pay for 500+ downloads and +20 uploads from Armstrong (no fiber in my area yet) and I very seldom get those speeds. The routers are connected together by an ethernet cable because I use the secondary node almost as a switch because there is a smart tv and an Armstrong exp streaming box that I like to have hard-wired.

The issues I am running into are my speeds and latency when other devices are running. There are 2 smart tv’s, couple iPhones, Macbooks, and smaller wifi accessories on the network. Two playstation's and one Macbook are the main hardwired devices on the network. If both Playstations are on, there are random lag spikes and terrible latency. I already checked with my ISP to make sure it’s nothing on their end. I ran asus routers before these ET12’s the same way and never had a problem. These are how everything is wired. Modem to main ET12’s 2.5g wan port. Et12’s 2.5g lan to switch A. Switch A to switch B and Switch C. Switch B to Macbook and PlayStation. Switch C to smart tv and Armstrong exp streaming box. Lan 1 1g of this same ET12 is the secondary node. On my wifi i’m lucky to get 200 download. I tested the ethernet connection in multiple locations with almost no load and all of them were the same with about 770 down and 17 up, nothing weird expected there. The speed coming from the modem was about the same, great. With 2 4k tv’s streaming Top Gun on 4k and a playstation downloading Red Dead Redemption, other ethernet signals are around 485d and 10u, still great. With that same setup but adding a playstation downloading nba 2k24, on a wired connection i’m getting 170d and 6u, still fine in my eyes. When i see it buffer and lag is when both playstations and the wired 4k tv and a wireless 4k tv are on. Neither playstation are ever downloading or moving crazy big files it’s just on games such as call of duty. So no bad cables or switches found. Asus has a QoS tab but i’ve never used it. On there you can see what speeds everything is taking real time and i’ve never seen anything over 3mgps. Basically when about 4 devices that need a little more than normal internet are on the internet almost throttles. Still can’t put my finger on it. Please help.
