So this is pretty much for my mother to use at work. Tell me what you think about it. (2 x 1TB for RAID 1 - back up)

She will be doing simple tasks like Word, Excel, QuickBooks, and multi-tab web browsing.

Gracias.

Would do just fine for web browsing etc. What are you going to put it all in? since theres no graphics card and its m-itx you could get something tiny like an Antec ISK110. 430 Watt PSU is probably overkill but I suppose its only $50 anyway and gives you the option to drop in a GPU later on.

Um, did you miss the Bitfenix Prodigy? And my mom doesn't play games lol. I will be using the (sh*t) iGPU inside; gets the job done.

Looks Good! A neat little system like that will be mega productive for a work environment.

PS: you might wanna pick one of these up for yourself

Where do I get one of those???

Could drop that PSU down to a 300W if you wanted. Otherwise it's pretty good.

What is she going to be doing on it, though?

I edited the post for you, sir.

Can you recommend any good PSUs that would fit the Prodigy and are on sale/cheap? (Preferably Microcenter, I already ordered the 430m there, and I can change it once I get to the store.)

There are some power supplies for a little less, but in hindsight you'd probably be best off with the Corsair as far as build quality goes for the extra $5-10.

I would drop down to 1TB and lose the RAID 1 / H77 down to B75. However, if everything that's saved is absolutely imperative it might not be a bad choice. But you could keep all your files on the hard drive and use the SSD as a backup. I would use a cloud, but again both of those options take more effort on the user's part than a RAID 1 Array.

Roger that.

I just dropped the 2 ITB drives. Should I go with 1 3TB drive? Or 1 1TB? My mom has a Seagate backup solution at her office, so you're probably right. I should go with a B75 board now right? Can you recommend me a mITX one? (I'll be looking right now lol)

None from Microcenter :(

and one from Newegg is literally the same price...

What should I do?

Get another SSD and RAID 0?

Lol yeah I did. You could get a much smaller case than that. GPU's aren't just for games. Some workload can even be sent from the CPU to the GPU.

I'll pass on that. It's not really necessary. :P

Yeah video encoding and stuff like that... the i3 is more than sufficient for the tasks that were said though.  I agree GPU is not necessary.  All looks good to me... RAID 0 SSDs is kind of overkill.  You could also get her a NUC and an external hard drive.  Probably will cost more, but would be even smaller.

I was actually considering that idea, but I decided to build her one since she knows I love building computers, lol. So, add 1tb? Or how much? Cause I don't have any internal mass storage drives atm, only the one SSD. I canceled the order for the two 1 TB drives.

If you can't find the ASRock B75M-ITX motherboard for cheaper, the H77 is fine. Depending on the price, maybe upgrade your storage?

In Australia a 1TB Barracuda is like $70, and a 2TB Barracuda is about $100. In this case, it's worth getting the larger one.

You won't really need RAID and for the applications you've said you won't notice an enormous difference with an SSD in RAID.

If you already have a backup solution, you could even just drop down to the SSD. My mum owns a real estate agency and she's yet to use more than 80GB on her files and documents -- you can store a lot of documents.

Again though, I'm looking at this from a very budgeted perspective where every cent saved is a cent that counts ;P

Agreed... Documents and things like that take up very little space, 1TB drive will last basically forever if that's all she's doing with it.  Mass mass storage of music/movies and other media type files is when you might need to expand your storage... if you have a lot of it.

Yup! I think I'll just find a 2TB for $90 when I get to Microcenter then. Thanks.

Yeah it's not necessary. I wasn't suggesting you should get one, I was just saying that having a 450watt PSU gives you the option for a GPU if you ever wanted to increase performance.

I like it but if you did need a little better GPU I'd go with a Core i3-3225 which will give you the HD 4000

But for the tasks I like it
