Budget (including currency): ~2000€

Country: Italy

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Mostly gaming, wanna try some AAA games

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

I would like to upgrade my existing rig (AMD 1600af / GTX 1050ti) after years of loyal service and this is what i came up with. I kinda love the 7800x3d/7800XT combo and I really want to stick with the white aesthetics and know full well i'll have to pay extra for that.

I'm mostly looking for advices on compatibility issues, dimensional issues and overall suggestions on how to improve/save money.

PS I currently have a HD 60Hz monitor wich will need to be replaced, don't need a mouse/keyboard (i have a G502 Hero and a BlackWidow V3)

Looks pretty good already. You've done pretty well choosing parts. You might be able to save a little bit with a different motherboard, there's some other B650 motherboards for around 50 Euro less than the Asus Strix board.

Would also recommend either going for full icue setup or changing to non icue 4000D and buying seperate otherwise tailored fans, the icue fans double the price of the case. But very good setup of parts, i have very similar myself and runs a charm

@TatamiMatt I know and that was the plan originally. My only problem is that the non RGB version of the 4000D comes with a grey accent on the front panel wich i dont like at all, while the RGB one is total white. So i'm just nitpicking based on looks 😅

@Spotty Could you provide some options? I like to consider my self an informed enthusiast, but when it comes to MOBOs i'm like a blank sheet. Moreover, do you think the one i choose has enough connectivity on hand? I should also state that i don't really need WiFi

Oh i didnt even see the white aesthetic!

Totally agree, the icue 4000D in white looks much better and cleaner than the non icue

The MSI MPG edge wifi is possibly a little cheaper and also white

Other white mobos

NZXT N7

Gigabyte aero

Rog Strix (the one in your part list)

Aorus Elite

Asrock Pro (kinda grey/white)

Same CPU, the cooler can perfectly be the same but it didn't appeared available to me. The mobo is a good mobo (https://www.thefpsreview.com/2023/04/26/asrock-b650-pro-rs-motherboard-review/), aceptable VRM, very solid I/O... and you probably don't need a full ATX mobo. The memory is the cheapest 6000MHz CL30 2x16gb kits although any kit would work. For storage same that u had. Cheapest 7900XT. Good PSU and 2 fans u may not even need. Now it's 40 bucks over budget.. You maybe don't need the fans or you can downgrade mobo or storage.

I've just seen your reply about the cases, there are a few options, personally my favorite is the NZXT H5 (https://pcpartpicker.com/product/92pzK8/nzxt-h5-flow-atx-mid-tower-case-cc-h51fw-01) which is even cheaper, or the version with RGB (https://pcpartpicker.com/product/fcqrxr/nzxt-h5-flow-rgb-atx-mid-tower-case-cc-h51fw-r1). Other option is the Pop Air from Fractal Design (https://pcpartpicker.com/product/3nD7YJ/fractal-design-pop-air-atx-mid-tower-case-fd-c-por1a-01) which is also cheaper than 4000D. Lian-Li has also several options like the 011 Dynamic EVO (https://pcpartpicker.com/product/4cPQzy/lian-li-o11-dynamic-evo-atx-mid-tower-case-pc-o11dew), a little bit expensive but very good looking.

I'm sorry if i made any spelling mistakes, i'm not an English speaker.

@TatamiMatt Unfortunately the MSI cost more on Amazon Italy, and we don't really have cheaper option (i f*****n envy those located near a MicroCenter 😭)

@Guille.R Well thanks! A couple notes: The RAM you choose is black, non-RGB; you removed 2TB of storage; i feel like a m-ATX board in a full ATX case won't look anywhere near as good as i'd like it to. Thank you again very much tho, appreciate your time!

Yeah, sadly, you really pay a premium for white pc components, i have to order most things online myself as stores near me dont really sell pc parts and the one that does is pretty generalised and lacking variety of any kind

Yea, if ur build is focused in aesthetic you probably have to conform with a 7800xt, that said, the pop air mini is a mATX/miniITX case only that may look really good. The truth is that I didn’t even saw the 2tb storage but u can get some SSDs for similar price. And about rgb ram, u can find it pretty cheap and u are probably not gonna see the color of it so maybe it doesn’t matter if it’s black?

https://it.pcpartpicker.com/list/3QK9wg

I’ve changed the ram the ssd, the case and the PSU (ram is same with rgb, ssd is a pretty good module, case is great and will probably look great with a mATX board an PSU is maybe even better).

if black ram isn’t an option you also have this option: https://it.pcpartpicker.com/product/GD7scf/corsair-vengeance-rgb-32-gb-2-x-16-gb-ddr5-6000-cl30-memory-cmh32gx5m2b6000c30w

Or this other: https://it.pcpartpicker.com/product/NhBzK8/adata-xpg-lancer-rgb-32-gb-2-x-16-gb-ddr5-6000-cl30-memory-ax5u6000c3016g-dclarwh (notice that with this last model you will need to change the height of the fan in the cooler, although it seems like you have enough clearance)

Ok i made some adjustments mainly due to some boo-boos in my previous list (i.e. secondary ssd was gen 3, PSU doesn't need to be white cause u cant see it, so i added the 2023 version of it, white ram RAM compatible with EXPO wasn't available and had to settle for the grey version 🤬).

What you guys think?

Also, some more related questions:

- Is this monitor good? Currently on sale on my local amazon for 259,90€. Good/bad/can find better deals....?

- Do you have any suggesstion on where to buy a cheaper license for windows?

- Am i correct in thinking about using the samsung ssd for OS and the crucial for bulk storage (i.e. steam library...)?

Total without Windows key: 2295,05€ shipping included

Again, THX a LOT community!!

Edit: i've done some research and it looks like i could have some ram clearence problems, can anyone confirm that?

Monitor isn’t bad but it’s VA so isn’t the best, https://it.pcpartpicker.com/product/JPrYcf/gigabyte-g27q-270-2560x1440-144-hz-monitor-g27q this one is a little bit better but probably don’t compensate to pay 50€ more.

For the keys there are a ton of sites, I’ve used RoyalKeys but you can just pick the one with the better deal and then look it up in trustpilot (you can expect them to be aroun 13€)

Yes, I’d use the 980 for os and p3 for all the files/steam library, 980 is for what I know faster and more reliable.

About the ram clearance, technically it shouldn’t fit since your cooler only support 42mm and the ram is 44mm (https://help.corsair.com/hc/en-us/articles/4412253644045-DDR5-memory-module-dimensions) but usually you can just move up the fan a little bit and if ur case has those 2mm clearance with the cooler it will be perfect

For the keys i use a site called gamers outlet, they usually sell keys for under £5

Bought about 2 or 3 from them over the years no hassle. Key didnt work once and delightful customer service, emailed them about my key not working and had a new working key within 10 minutes
