So, I've made some upgrades to my PC.

My system:

  • CPU: AMD/Ryzen 7 7800X3D (NEW)
  • Motherboard: MSI AM5 MAG B650 TOMAHAWK  (NEW)
  • GPU: SAPPHIRE PULSE Radeon RX Vega 56 8G HBM2 (FROM OLD SYSTEM)
  • PSU: Corsair HX1200 (FROM OLD SYSTEM)
  • Windows 11 Home, build 22621.2715

Recently when gaming, after some time (aprox. 1 hour) I will get a grey screen with only a sound. After 2-3 secs comes reboot.

Only event in windows event viewer is the Kernel Power event.

So, I thought its probably dying PSU. I decided to do some tests to be sure.

During all the testing CPU temps never went over 70C and GPU never went over 80C.

  • Memtest - ok
  • Prime95 - ran for 3 hours ok
  • OCCT CPU, small dataset, 1 hour ok
  • OCCT CPU, large dataset, 1 hour ok
  • OCCT 3D standard 1 hour ok
  • OCCT 3d adaptive 1 hour ok
  • OCCT power (GPU & CPU usage 100%) 1 hour ok
  • Ungine heaven all maxed values, 1 hour ok

So... what the hell? If the PSU had problem delivering power it would surely crash during those test.

Also not all  games seem to crash. Ive only had crashes in Detroit become human and Desperados. But none in Warhammer II.

I do not have spare GPU or PSU for replacing without actually buying those parts.

Ive also updated Bios on the motherboard and gpu drivers are also up to date.

Any ideas? Thanks.

Drivers. Something is creating a conflict that hangs the system.  If you didn’t reinstall windows when you swapped out the mobo and cpu, you should do that.

If you did, run DDU in safe mode and reinstall the graphics drivers.

Make sure all the latest drivers are installed for the motherboard. BIOS update also.

I made a fresh install after updating the parts.

Already tried reinstalling drivers.
