is this the operating system drive?

 

the general rule is no..but I do it all the time, have done this with the same drive (windows) on about 6 different pcs amd/intel and not had any issues..though not saying issues wont occur

The "OMG YOU CAN NEVER SWITCH DRIVES" is for the most part outdated. There are some performance gains of having a clean install, but unless you are barely meeting minimum spec, or are a professional gamer and need the gain from 300fps to 330fps: you likely won't notice any performance losses. I've got my Plex server (6500T) and tower (R5-5600) running opposite specs and a boot drive that goes back and forth when Folding Month comes around (PCIE lane allocation issues) and have never seen a significant drop in performance or stability.

There can be driver conflicts when you do this. I would at the very least remove and reinstall all the graphic and motherboard related drivers when you do this, etc.
