Hi,  I need help,  I do not know what is the issue but I get some idea of it.

When I play a game,  sometimes the monitor turns blackscreen while PC still running till its restart itself.
GPU temperature was 45 degrees,  no signs of overheated.  and this blackscreen comes random.
I did try reinstall the driver for GPU however, it does not make any different.  I still get the blackscreen but totally random,  sometimes fast,  sometimes after 1 -2 hours of gaming

please help 😞

so a few points I would try:

Repaste the GPU (add new thermal compound)

Check for firmware updates for your card (not many people update their card firmware but they probably should)

Test with another GPU if you can (to see if the GPU is the issue or the system itself)

Run a Memtest86 run because it doesn't hurt

try running an older driver to see if it is an issue introduced with a more recent driver revision

If someone has helped you out on the forum don't forget to give them a reaction to say thank you!

Please put as much effort into your question as you expect me to put into answering it.

Hi buddy,

When the screen goes black is the PC still responsive (just with no display) or has it frozen / hung?

You can usually check to see if its still a working PC if pressing the numlock button on your keyboard causes the numlock led to turn on and off.

A single press of the power button is another way to test. If after a single press the PC turns off after a few seconds then it means Windows is still functioning. A normal power off request was received, understood and completed. If you need to hold the power button for 5 seconds or yoink the power cable then its properly crashed.

If it does still respond then chances are your Nvidia drivers have crashed and not recovered.

You can check for this in the Windows Event Viewer:

Search 'Event Viewer' then navigate to Windows Logs > System.

Ideally you want to see an error detailing 'Nvlddmkm' has stopped responding or something like that to confirm this is the case.

If it is then follow the steps suggested by @GOTSpectrum. You should also add do a fresh Windows install to the list as this usually removes any software issues from the list of culprits.

Also double check you PSU cables. I spent a week with a 2080ti that kept black screening and was on the verge of condemning it. Thankfully, after further investigation I noticed the PCIe cables had melted to the inside of the PSU so it was a dodgy PSU rather than the GPU. Not ideal but a far cheaper replacement.

Do the fans go to 100%?

My issue was a generic PSU (that came with my system)... I had to buy a better one from the PSU Cultist list.
