Hey everybody!

Upgraded my old Mobo/CPU/Ram this weekend to an MSI B650 Tomahawk WiFi, running 7800x3D & 32gb DDR5-6000 as well added an extra nvme.

Everything started out fine however since I moved over the existing NVMEs, there were some conflicting drivers causing “driver_power_failure” BSOD’s after about 5 minutes.

To remediate this I figured was worth formatting all the drives and resetting the PC with a clean install of windows, which has now created an inescapable hell hole.

No matter what figuration I have installed, I can’t get past “Getting Files Ready for Install” in the Windows Media Creation USB without it cancelling and sending back to square one.

Any tips??

Sadly I cannot obtain any dump files since only able to access bios

Windows issues with a platform upgrade is pretty normal, reinstalling was the right call.

Id update the bios first, reseat the drive, only install the os drive for now. Swap to another drive to see if thay works.

Maybe the usb has an issue, reinstall on another windows pc. Download the windows .iso and use rufus to put it on usb.

I’m also thinking it could be the USB (is a rather old usb 2.0 drive that has been sitting for a while) so I did order a couple new drives to pick up after work today.

Hadn’t heard of Rufus before but after looking into it, think this may help out as well since seems like it may help bypass some of the Windows Media Creation Tool issues I’ve had.

Will definitely put these to the test in addition to a bios update tonight and post results here!

Appreciate your feedback!

So the answer ended up being the motherboard was faulty. I’m assuming the bios pre installed was nearly corrupted when first booting up and then the driver errors sent it to the skies. Went into Best Buy and swapped it out and came back home to rebuild and now everything’s working fine with zero issue.
