Budget (including currency): $1500

Country: USA

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Main games would be Warframe and Binding of Isaac. But my main concern is using CAD software like solidworks.

Well, here's a quick recommendation for both gaming and CAD productivity apps, with some note:

Salvageable Parts

From the list, some parts that I think can be reused for the new builds are:

CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper T4 70 CFM Rifle Bearing CPU Cooler

Storage: Samsung 850 Evo 500 GB 2.5" Solid State Drive

Storage: Samsung 850 Evo 1 TB 2.5" Solid State Drive

Video Card: ASRock Radeon RX 6600 Challenger 8GB GDDR6 Graphics Card (depending on the case)

Case: Corsair Carbide Series 200R ATX Mid Tower Case

Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA 850 G2 850 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply

Optical Drive: LG UH12NS30 Blu-Ray Reader, DVD/CD Writer

CPU Cooler

Since the CPU I'm recommending are not very extensively require cooling, Cooler master Hyper T4 or stock Intel Cooler is good enough

Storage

Both Samsung 850 Evo SATA SSD can be reused for extra storage or cloned to the new NVME as the main OS and app directory

GPU/Video Card

ASRock RX 6600 is a really good card for gaming, you can reuse it for the new build and disregard of new GPU purchase, but if you want to buy new, RTX 4070 is quite a good choice, especially for CAD

PC Case

This case (pun intended) is interesting. Although the front side has early 2000 design, it does look very professional while providing slots for cooling (side fan and top fans looks cool). So you can reuse it if you want

PSU

EVGA SuperNova is a really good budget PSU, absolutely a beautiful beast, even after 9 years since initial launch

In my generalized opinion, if your PSU is over 7 years old of use, you may consider on changing it as the electrical components inside are becoming less efficient over time. But if you purchased and used this PSU in less than 5 years, I don't see the reasons to change it.

Additional Concern

For RAM size, it's either 16, 32 or 64 GB, depending on the project size of your CAD work

If it's a small scale or simple design, a basic 16 GB size is good enough

But in this case, I will say go to 32GB as the sweet spot of plenty enough but not extravagant unless you're handling a very big and important project

Assuming you're purchasing entirely new parts, here's my recommendation of the parts, with total budget of USD1359.85

Thank you for the quick response! Regrading when I got the parts I got all of them 9 years ago (except the graphics card) and they have been in use the whole time. I find that the 16 gb of ram is always in use to at least 95-100% when I both CAD and play games so 32 gigs. My CPU is also my main bottleneck right now but that might be because it's almost a decade old.

A 13th gen i5 would be an easy upgrade, but maybe also that gpu could use a solid upgrade too.

Nice, it's cool to see tech well used for an extended period of time, and it's due to an upgrade anyway

Tech tips for GPU, you can try to make the new built without purchasing the new GPU.

After the built and you tried with the current RX 6600, if you feel it is slow / bottleneck (which likely would), you may then consider buy RTX 4070 or equivalent GPU

What is the difference between the Intel Core i5-13600K and the Intel Core i5-13600KF

13600K has integrated graphic, while 13600KF doesn't

So in the worst case scenario if your GPU somehow breaks, you can still use your PC by plugging the HDMI/DP cable onto your motherboard and use it to do some work (that is not GPU intensive)
