Does anyone know what this could be?

These glitchy squares, I've encountered them twice recently and they show up pretty much in any desktop application randomly. Could it be something with Windows 10 or graphics driver?

Likely GPU artefacts  imo

Thanks for your reply. I've managed to capture these and just when they appeared, BTD6 has stopped responding. I couldn't use Win+Shift+S so I used my phone instead.

If it's occurring across multiple applications, it is likely a GPU issue. Unlucky!

Thanks for your reply, sir. What a bummer if you're right! I will try DDU though and install the driver again, I can't really believe that 30 series EVGA would die after 2 years.

 

Is this also a symptome of a faulty gpu? Seems like something with software to me:

Yeh, looks like GPU artifacting.

 

Could be a few things but artifacting generally points to VRAM problems.

 

You could try using DDU to clean out your display drivers and reinstall. If that doesn't work, do fresh install of windows and see if that helps.

 

If the problem persists after that then its probably time to get a new GPU.

 

You could maybe try and reduce the memory clocks on your GPU using MSI Afterburner but the chances are, all you're doing is delaying the inevitable.

I used DDU in safemode and so far so good. What doesn't make sense to me still, were it a VRAM problem, is the fact that this was or still is a situational problem and had occured to me only once before I wrote this topic and that was like 1 week ago. I rebooted my PC that time and it was alright.

 

After clean installing latest Nvidia drivers, I used FurMark to stress test my card three times (though I am unsure whether 3 times is enough) and I couldn't spot any artifacts.

Maybe it was just a driver / software issue.

 

What you showed us on the pics was 'classic' GPU death syndrome' so hopefully its all fixed now.
