Semi Modular/Mobo Compadibility

Go to solution Solved by WoodenMarker,

Ahh ok well i think I found the 770 I want but it looks like it needs higher amps from a single rale ( Hope i termed that correctly)  http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-SuperClocked-Graphics-02G-P4-2774-KR/dp/B00CZIQXBA  so i was lookin at this  http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139020    PSU for it.  would those two work with my system?

Overkill. You could run a 760/770 sli off of a solid 650w if you really wanted to.

Like I said, the cx500m is fine.

bump.  if anyone else knows If

works with my mobo MSI P67A-GD65  please let me know and I can close the topic!

Please don't bump and just try to be more patient.

Hi! I have a Antec 900 Case and they only built two holes for cable management so I'm looking to get a new power supply (my current one Corsair 6 years old 550W Bronze) and it makes a big mess in my set up. So i am looking for a semi modular 750w Power supply that is compatible with my motherboard There's all of these confusing 12v single rails /multiple rails I got no idea what any of them mean so I turn here to you guys and gals. My motherboard is the MSI P67A-GD65. I am also looking to upgrade to a 760 or 770gtx. budget not a big deal for the power supply because I want a good one that wont fry my computer or have coil wine when it turns on. So I guess im looking for good suggestions on what power-supply and 700 series are compatible with my Motherboard. The rest of my specs down below. Thank you very much. I don't know much about computers I apologize for the ignorance. (Do I even need a 750W is it to much or to less if i get a 770 O.o)

 MSI P67A-GD65

GTX 460

8gigs Ram

Intel Core i5 2500k

Windows 7 Ultimate (64bit)

Need any more info?

Rails have over current protection circuits to keep you from drawing too much power from a single rail. The combined output of the rails determine how much power a psu can deliver. Each connector at the end of the psu comes from one of the psu's rails.

Where are you shopping/located? Budget?

A decent 500w is already plenty for a 760/770.

Any pci/pci-e graphics card will work fine with your motherboard.

The cx500m should be plenty for either the 760 or 770. http://pcpartpicker.com/part/corsair-power-supply-cx500m

I looked at the 770 gtx nvidia web sight it recommends a 600 watt psu minimum. : /

Ignore what Nvidia or AMD recommends. The recommendation is highly inflated in case you get a crappy psu and complain to them about it. Customer support is costly to maintain and they save on complaints by doing this.
