Hi guys im planning on building a rig for my brother who's a web developer for almost 3 years and havent even bothered replacing his

pentium g620

geforce 9400 GT 1gb

1TB wd mechanical drive

usb 2.0 board

4gb of ram

and sometimes he just scratch his head when things is slowing down especially when you are in a hurry. Im just concerned about his temper lol so i plan to buy and setup a rig for him on his birthday (so its a surprise)

Basically this is what he do.

- Design using Fireworks, illustrator cs6 and a bit of photoshop

- he also do video editing but not really that exaggerated (premier pro and after effects)

- he is using dreamweaver and notepad to code also uses vb6

- using google chrome and loads of extensions to assist web development

- also uses firefox and some addons

- Filezilla and wamp

- He also play yeah he do play but he only plays 1 game DOTA 2 lol whenever he needed a break he plays this game just to add another stress haha

So this is what i came up with just suggest whats best for him with above details pls.

- I have this old crucial m4 256gb i plan to use it as his system disk

- planning to buy him a 1 TB crucial m550 for those intensive applications that takes a lot of time saving and also serves as his document folder, cache disk for premier and after effects etc

- my old 1 TB WD passport usb3 external harddrive to backup his 1 TB crucial m550 weekly

- I also have this great monitor that im sure he will love its an old but really helpful monitor dell u2312hm

- Now guys please suggest me a processor that is inexpensive yet enough to run those intensive applications future proof (im not sure about future proofing lol) im planning to buy i7 4770 as he doesnt know how to OC but if you think 4770 is overkill pls suggest a better affordable cpu

- Please let me know which board i should buy, it should have usb3 (for the wd passport), thunderbolt? (im not sure but kinda handy) sata 6gbps (for the ssd)

- let me know how much ram he would need (which should be compatible with the board)

- a GPU that can run dota 2 well his old GPU can handle it lol but im thinking of upgrading it for his photo and video editing, you think gtx 660 ti is over kill?

- lastly the PSU that can run all of those new components :D

- i have haf x by the way

So thats it hope to hear from you guys, please suggest and comment

thanks a lot

in all honesty, if he is a web developer, it would be best for him to invest in a laptop. That way he can meet up with clients anywhere he needs to without any hassle.

Gaming/Editing PC: AMD FX-8350 | CM Seidon 120V Liquid Cooler | Asus M5A99FX PRO R2.0 ATX AM3+ Motherboard | G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600| Gigabyte GeForce GTX 770 2GB WINDFORCE | PNY XLR8 240GB SSD | Seagate Barracuda 2TB HDD | Corsair 600W ATX Semi-Modular PSU | Thermaltake Chaser A71 | LG 25UM64-S 25.0" 2560 x 1080 Display | CM Storm Devastator Gaming Keyboard & Mouse

Just buy the 750ti for the GPU since CS6 uses Cuda cores and some apps also use Cuda cores.

Just get a USB 3.0 motherboard with front headers.

Ako si pogi haha

hahaha kabayan :P ty sa input
