So, a heatwave (35~40C every day) hit the country this past week, and only two days ago I noticed an unattended computer was hitting 100C, which prompted me to shutdown. I'm now back, ambient temps have returned to cool, and yet I was still hearing the fan scream, which prompted me to investigate.

I have 5800x with an MSI B450 Gaming Plus MAX. The thing was previously manually tunned to handle 24/7 prime95 operation, but now one specific core (Core 5) is ~10C hotter than the others, with 3 and 7 also considerably higher than the rest too. I tried remounting the cooler to confirm, but past coverage was spot on, and the remount didn't change anything either... I really have no idea how to diagnose the cause, let alone fix it, and I'd love some help. Here are some screenshots with a large FFT P95 and a twitch stream running in the background.
