Help with upgrade path

Hi there first time posting in the forum, looking for some possible advice with my upgrade.

current build -

i5-8600K

32GB ram

rtx2060

650watt PSU

 

Im looking at getting a new graphic card and upgrading the rest of the rig in about a year or so. 

Ive been looking at either a rx6800($576can) or a 7800xt ($700can)

At the moment i am gaming at 1080 but looking at possibly move up to 1440 once i upgrade the CPU.

Will a rx6800 be good enough for the next 2years at 1080 or even 1440 or should i go with something better like the 7800xt

If you were to upgrade the gpu first, the bottleneck would be very high even on the rx6800. If I were you, I would upgrade my cpu first. Its going to payback more if you don't have enough money atm. I'd suggest you to go with a 13th gen i5 or i7 cpu.

Thank your for the response ya i know either GPUs will bottleneck my current cpu. Im just worried that if i upgrade the cpu right now that my 2060 wont be good enough to get me through the next the next year before i can get a new gpu. I am looking at getting a 13600K when i do upgrade the cpu.

I understand your concerns, but the rtx 2070 is still a good gpu and I think it will be able to take you through the year if you were to play on 1080p, unless you are planning on playing gta 6 on max.
