Hello, just watched a review on the Sabertooth Z97 mark 1 Motherboard, i have two questions..

1. Which is the difference between, the two chipsets the Z97 and Z87?

2. Which is the better board? The Asus, Sabertooth Z97 Mark 1, or the Asus Maximus VI Formula?

Thanks Phil.

z97 is the newest, no real difference, but its needed for the new CPU's that are coming out later i think.

It isn't needed for the new CPUs coming out :P if you're talking about the

Haswell refresh,  they're  the  same  socket  and  backwards  compatible

I would go with the Formula and Plastidip it white because sex

Z97 is the latest revision Intel chipset for 1150 socket, the only differences between motherboards with the same chipset are featureset and looks, you can plainly see on the product descriptions what different features come with each board.

For gaming with a single GPU for example the cheapest board with the chipset will perform the same as the most expensive with the same chipset (Z87/Z98), the chipset is what's important.

You want to look at features like number of SATA 6 ports, USB3 ports, PCIE X16 slots, SLI/Xfire support, a good audio codec, decent NIC, those are the important things.
