PSU Advice

Hi, this is my build I'm currently buying the parts for, just wondering if the 850W psu is enough for this as PCPartPicker is giving a 696W estimate, butASRock website recommends 1000w for the gpu.

if the recommended psu is 1000w then get a 1000w psu because there might be some power draw spikes and might crash if the psu isn't powerful enough

i would recommend to go higher than ASrocks recommendation. Maybe 1200w or 1600w.

Becuz the 7900xtx is a powerhungry GPU and can overload your PSU at times.

850w is enough for that build.  The 7800x3d doesn't pull much and the 7xxx series is more power efficient than the 6xxx.

7xxx series doesn't pull much power and it is more efficient. It gives better performance per watt, not less power draw.

So, 1200w should be good and go for 1600w if you really want too.

If you're phrasing it like that, then of course.

 

Since 850w is good...  1200w will be and 1600w will be, so get what you want.

 

 

Though the OP was asking more for what will be sufficient, rather than overkill.

An 850W ATX 3.0 PSU should have no problems handling transients and would be a good choice. But following manufacturer guidance is always a good idea as it eliminates one possible issue if a warranty claim must be made.

An 850W psu is cutting it a bit close imo. A 1000W psu would be ideal for that build.
