Girlfriends pc started taking forever to even load windows 11. Checking crystal disk the nvme reads 25mbps only and has massive latency. I updated bios and did windows scan for corruption. It started acting normal for a minute and right back to waiting 30-60sec to even open file explorer with nothing running. As a last shot test I disabled write caching and that gets the drive running 500mbps read / 800 mbps write. Which is a lot better but it was running about 1500mbps read/write. Second I re enable write cache it's immediately back down to 25 mbps and 1000ms plus latency. The write speeds go back and forth between 25-50mbps and sometimes the full 1500mbps when write cache enabled. It's a 512g nvme and has over 200 gb free. Does it sound like the nvme controller is going out?

Is there anything in event viewer? Nvidia drivers recently had a logging issue.

There was 1 error for DISTRIBUTEDCOM did not register required timeout. But the rest are information in system. Then under application there is a CertificateservicesClient-Cert error that timed about the same time I ran sfc /scannow. But rest is info and 1 warning about SMBCtrl that seems linked to Rgb fusion. I just updated the nvidia drivers last night but it was doing this before that. I did the latest bios and all driver updates to try and get rid of the issue.

I have crystal disk info but will get Hard Disk Sentinel later. Crystal shows no issues and 99% health as it's not even 1 year old yet. Sorry was in hurry to leave so just took picture instead of screenshot since it's quicker.

Yea I'll warranty it then. I had this problem before on multiple pcs with windows 10 and it ended up just being that model WD Nvme and problem went away with 11. This drive is barely used still 99% health. I figured the controller going out but just wanted some other opinions. I was building 3 pcs on a budget so had to take what I could get.  With Disk Sentinel it shows no errors also and same 99% health. But least for now I can leave cache off and get sata ssd performance until i image it to a new drive.

650w evga g5 gold
