hello there.

my build: https://de.pcpartpicker.com/list/v63Jwg

my brother build: https://de.pcpartpicker.com/list/97csKX

anyway i am debating to upgrade my brother gpu before "crypto winter" strikes again as i am afraid it will be here soon due to recent price rises on bitcoins plus prices rn re looking like they won't go any lower.

but i am in dilemma where should I gave him my 6650xt and buy myself another gpu or keep my current gpu and get him rx6600.

fact is that i am not super happy with amd gpu i currently have. sure its more than enough for my needs, COD mw2022 gets nice 100+ fps easily at 1440p balanced settings but i have problems elswhere.

1. few days ago i ve decided to go and enjoy at good old mw3/mw2 titles but no matter what i do i can't get more than 90 fps, occasional sutters and problems all along. i ve tried with older r7 260, same problems, on moments unplayable. DDU and driver reinstall did help with sutters but not with low fps. on my brother 1650 it worked flawless.

2. i cant use some programs on my amd gpu such as potplayer, i cant get same video settings as on nvidia card, either whole thing sutters or its too bad picutre quality. on nvidia 0  issues with that. ok i ve switched to vlc media player, 0 issues but still

3. my fan curve keeps resseting with each turn on my pc and it becomes annoying since custom fan curve is set quite agreeeive with lots of fan ramp ups/downs.

soo yea. but i have a problem of what to buy. as we all know nvidia prices re insane in neagitve way. 3060 12gb is probably just too slow for my 1440p monitor, 4060 have two issues, lower performance on pcie gen3 and only 8gb of vram and honestly these two re only nvidia options in our price tier, 4070 is completly out of the question since prices in Europe can go well above 600€. amd option would be 6700xt but yea as i ve said, from time to time i would like to play some older titles and if this is problematic with amd gpus then sorry nvidia is only option for me.

soo yea. games we like to play: COD titles, battlefield, some esports, apex, fortnite, GTA, me personally in future i would like to finish some singleplayer ones like RDR2 and horizon zero dawn and some others.

soo can any1 give some insight into that problem? reddit is kinda useless for that help soo i came here to ask what would you do? either keep my 6650xt which re working great expect these issues or get myself another gpu. idk what to do.

thanks already! oo yea i am from Europe, Slovenia, can buy things off amazon de or some other european country. currently they have this: https://www.amazon.de/-/en/GV-N306TXGAMING-OC-8GD-GIGABYTE-GEFORCE-3060Ti/dp/B0BQYZVK1R/ref=sr_1_1?crid=2225PRXY7K9SQ&keywords=3060ti&qid=1699356824&sprefix=3060ti%2Caps%2C151&sr=8-1

and idk why i am considering this.

Soo yea. I doubt another crypto winter's coming anything soon, at least not in Europe as energy prices have offset any profits and unlike last time, the cryptominers have a bigger fish with more money, the AI market. Nvidia and AMD have a new client leaving crypto customers unremarkable.

Does the 1650 really get playable framerates in MW3 cause looking online you need to use upscaling to get playable framerates and even then it looks like a blur at 40fps. Not playable for a fast paced shooter.

I feel like something else is acting up on your PC other than the GPU. Have you installed your brothers 1650 and confirm that it indeed runs as expected?

And you're correct unless your hand is forced, anything less than a 4070 is a waste of money, leaving milk out on a hot day are the 4060's.

What's your budget? Why is your brother's PC listed as well. Planning on upgrading both?

I don't think there would be another crypto boom, but I do think other causes will keep prices up as it has always been that way and corporations are greedy.

Why not look into the used market? Honestly with your situation the 4070 is the best purchase, but if you can't really do that then I would look into the used market. You can find good deals on 3080 and 3080ti.

1. we will see. in Europe we re kinda doing a "green energy" with solar pannels for eletricity. and idk how is this in other European countries but in Slovenia whats left from eletricity we need to "give" to a country for free. and i know at least two guys who re running mining rigs all the time since they have a solar pannels at home soo they use all of this power and not giving it to a country if i can say soo. but either way prices probably came down as much as they can, i ve doubt we will see any lower prices than this.

you missunderstand me, its my mistake sorry. i mean mw3 2011 edition and not mw3 2023 one since its pretty medicore game 😄 (another time we can debate this things), and this game on my 6650xt is pratically unplayable, driver reinstall did help a little but not much. on my brother 1650 (my previous gpu) worked flawless.

my brother 1650 works flawlessly on his pc, i did not installed in mine pc but i might do that. problem is that i dont want to do windows reinstall all over again if something wont work as 1st time 6650xt instalaltion into my pc where multiple DDU did not help me at all and i needed to do full windows reinstall. idk.

yea this is my problem soo i am kinda still for amd 6700xt and gave this 6650xt to my brother since that 12gb vs 8gb vram can be handy in future, thats for sure. and its like 360€, 370€, 200€ for my gpu and i paid around 150, 170€ for 6700xt but yea. idk what to do honestly.

i am debating this aswell, problem is that in my country used market is shitty to be honest 😄 3060ti lowest was 280€ 😄 3070ti 450€ and this is insane to be perfectly honest 😄 and i am not gonna pay up this much for used gpu, no way.
