Recently I came upon some parts from an old OEM and I decided to put them in my computer. Got out of it a 1000w PSU and ryzen 5700x. Tried to put the motherboard into my old case but alas, nothing. After this I tried to see if the power supply even worked in the oem and it didnt. It would turn on with a power reset switch on the back but it seems it just blasts out power instead of allowing it to be drawn. So silly me after thinking the MOBO was broken bought a new one (was broken, new one is ASUS TUF 570X PLUS) Got this hooked up today and guess what! Not even my old PC's 750w PSU could power it. But this weird 1000w could with this back power button thingy. And after that it smelt like burning! So I'm in a really tricky situation as I can't afford a new anything but I really want my PC back up. And the 750w PSU will work with the old MOBO from my original build but not the OEM's MOBO???

So neither of your PSUs could power the OEM board?

And the OEM psu killed your board?

Do I have that correct?

So 750 can only power original. 1000 can power them all, but only with this power reset/test switch. And judging by the smell it shouldn't be used.
