Optimal read write speeds

I wanted to know how much read write speed is good for:

1. Microsoft applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.

2. Gaming: For high performance requirement games (Like CyberPunk 2077)

 

Is a 3500mb/s needed for these purposes or a 7000mb/s?

For Gen4

For gaming, SSD speed doesn't matter too much, a 3500 MB/s read SSD will do just fine, you'll never max that out unless you have 10gig ethernet and are updating Steam games. I have a PCI-e gen 3 drive (which max out at 3500MB/s) in my PC and I can never max it out unless I stress test it (partially because our internet speed is only 250MBit/s). I've rarely even gone above 1GB/s

As long as you have even a SATA SSD you'll be fine.

 

Gen 3 and 4 NVMe isn't needed and don't make a difference in gaming/general use at all.  They're paper-fast for 99.99% of users.
