Incorrect cpu bios

As long as the CPU is socket compatible, that's all you would need to do. Motherboards are designed to try to recognize a new CPU, and motherboard makers know that CPUs can be released for a board after it comes out.

By "socket compatible" I mean that the CPU belongs on that board. Obviously, you could damage the socket if you try to force an LGA 1200 CPU into an LGA 1151 board, or damage an AM4 CPU by forcing it into an AM3 socket. If the CPU doesn't physically fit properly, damage could certainly happen.

what would happen if i put a cpu in my new motherboard that i’m not sure has the correct bios?

the motherboard does not have flashback or anything, so i just want to check if it works before i return the cpu, but i’m not sure if trying will damage my components.

yes i did check the website, it says it’s compatible but also depending on the bios ver, which is why i just want to test this

It won't damage any components. Best case, the board is one that lets you go into the BIOS without a supported CPU, and you can update the BIOS from there - this is generally only the case for much older motherboards. Worst case, the computer fails to boot entirely - either just a black screen or boot looping with no display output.
