I recently purchased and evga rtx 3090 xc3 24gb and while there's a performance increase I'm a little underwhelmed. I'm wondering if maybe it's a CPU bottleneck. I Recently saw a great deal for a ryzen 7 5800x and wondering if it might be a nice upgrade for AAA style games from my ryzen 5 5600x or if I should just wait till I can get a new motherboard and and a newer AM5 cpu? Thoughts? (full spec list attached)

The 5800x is a solid option indeed!  I would personaly save up for an AM5 CPU, Its definitely more expensive as you need a new motherboard, RAM and CPU compared to just putting in a 5800X into what you have now andI must agree that its a tough choice.
I do absolutely love my 7700X and have many friends that are super happy with the 7600/x as well, they are also more.. ( Hate this term, Future proof ) as well.

Here is a video, timed at gaming benchmarks and the 5800X is not that much of an upgrade.

The video is 2 years old but there are some heavier hitting games in the mix.

What did you come from and what is disappointing you? What games and such?

The only game I saw a significant increase in performance was WOW 🤣 otherwise Assassin's creed origins, Spiderman (insomniac), jedi Fallen order all seemed to not make much of a difference. Not sure what you mean what did I come from gpu: evga rtx 3060》evga rtx 3090 xc3 . Cpu currently ryzen 5 5600x thinking about 7 5800x

Fyi if you do upgrade that tiny aio isn't going to keep up AT ALL

That makes sense however this little Boi has surprised me time and time again. Maybe I'm ignorant to it but my Temps always seem fine with no indication of any throttling.

Also what case do you have?

Montech AIR X White ATX Mid Tower Case

Yeah so get a thermalright assasin 120. 35$ great cooler and will handle a 5800x.

You might want to ddu the driver. Also a 5600 is capable of hitting the frameratecap of the engine of those games basically.

Also make sure to have VSYNC off as well as int he driver.

It's also why I recommend DDU ing the driver as sometimes even a same gen upgrade can have issues like these pop up.
