I am building a new PC and have narrowed it down to 2 CPUs, the 5600x and the 5700g for only $5 USD more, which one should I get assuming it has to be one of these and budget is unimportant. I am only looking for which of these is a better CPU by itself, not what they will work well with. Keep in mind that I already have found a good compatible motherboard and the CPU will be used for gaming and video editing. Long story short, I just need to know which of these CPUs offers better performance.

Even though the 5700g has more cores and a higher base clock?

The clocks aren't that different and most games are fine with only 6 cores.

Anandtech has 5600X consistently beating 5700g for gaming.

I apologize for poor formatting as I am on mobile.

Would it be an issue for a 3060?

Nah, 3060 is in the minor category.

It has half the cache that the 5600X has (games love cache) and the base clock is pretty much meaningless on modern CPUs because they permanently boost.

If you really want the 8 cores, I'd get the 5700X.
