Budget (including currency): 1500-2000 CAD

Country: Canada

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Newer cod and battlefields, (hopefully) some vr through the quest 2, Red dead 2, Starfield, etc.

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc.): Just hoping I could get some help finding components, this would be my first build ever and I haven't really been following recent gpu or cpu development, I'm hoping to use pc part picker to throw it together but I honestly am not even sure where to start. I'd like the chipset to be intel but apart from that I'm none too picky, just would like something that is at least decently modern and can handle some newer titles.

i just threw this together, for now I would recommend if you want to go intel go with the 13700k in your budget but if you want to save a buck the 13600k is very good as well. I put in the Msi 240 Aio as a place holder, with either the 13700k or the 13600k I personally would recommend at least a decent 240mm Aio.

depending on your usecase and if you care about raytracing and productivity or not either go with the 6950xt for big d*CK gaming energy or a 4070 ti which will be a bit more expensive but will handle Ray Tracing and productivity better. 4070 ti will also be better with efficiency!

I left out a Case because that comes down to personal preference but with a big gpu like 6950xt make sure it’s a mid tower at least, I have the be quiet! Pure base 500dx and I like it a lot.

i didn’t catch if you need peripherals as well if so check how pricing is in your area and we can come back together and think on it.

Do you own a monitor and if so what is the resolution and if not is the monitor to be included in the budget?

That's US PCPartPicker with USD pricing, $200 over budget if you switch to Canada.

240mm AIO's are pointless. Either get a 360mm AIO or save some money and get a tower one.

We don't even know if OP wants overclocking, or even needs it. No need to splash on a Z series board before we know anything.

Though I do disagree with your opinion about 240mm Aios, your correct about wrong Pc part picker side and that the z motherboard is actually not needed yet, I just went for one I have good experiences with.

will try to improve

Hey thanks for the help! Ray tracing isnt really something i need to have but it would be nice, my monitors are also only 1080p

The 120mm fan goes inside the back of that case for a rear exhaust fan.
