Hey Bagzie,

Really appreciate your overview and suggestions.

1)I think one of the reasons I was looking at the nocuta was noise levels aswell, would the other suggestions be near enough the same in terms of dBA output?

2)I had just realised the ram was 4800, looking at a 5600mhz by crucial now instead not quite the 6000mhz but I think it will do for now and can upgrade

3)Motherboard was the big one I was looking for input on so really appreciate this, motherboard is the one thing I know I want to put in and leave and not have to worry about, is there any other b650 boards that might be a better choice in the price bracket or is the MSI the best choice here?

Thanks again!

Hey ,

What's the difference in cost with 6000mhz memory vs 5600mhz , Its not hugely important with an X3D chip but the difference in price might be minimal.

you are cotrect that the NH-D15 is quieter than both the options i mentioned however if you are gaming the AK620 and Peerless assasin will be no where near as loud as the 7800XT , The only time you will notice the difference in noise level is in a max cpu workload , The AK620 can be a little loud in that scenario but nothing crazy.

In terms of motherboards this video is a perfect for you.

Hope this helps.

This is a full upgrade for me from my last system, moving off from an AMD FX 8350 and RX 580 (So ya, an upgrade is due) Hence the push into AM5. If the past is any indication, I'm going to be holding on to this build for a long time and upgrade slowly as time goes on.

So I'm just looking for someone to do a quick overview and ensure I covered all my bases without any fatal issues before I pull the plug. Also, a hand-choosing the best motherboard would be great. I will take any other general advice on the config aswell!

buy a cheaper ryzen 5, and spend the money you saved there on some other upgrade. it looks good tho!

Thanks for the feedback, and ya I know I am slightly going overkill with the CPU, but would rather get that now and not have to worry about it long term, More likely to Upgrade GPU, RAM etc

Hi Foley.

The build looks pretty good but I do have a few suggestions.

1) The noctua NH-D15 whilst still up amongst the best air coolers you can buy is around the same performance as a Thermalright Peerless assasin and Deepcool AK620 which both cost considerably less.

2) You really don't want to run 4800MHZ memory with am5 , A 6000MHZ kit off some sort ideally with a low cas latency would be the way to go.

3) Asus B650 boards have notoriously high vrm temps but I don't know if its as bad on the one you are looking at , Definately look into it though because the 7800X3D will not cause issues but who knows what you might want to throw into it in a few years time.

The MSI board is solid though.

CPU : Ryzen 7 7800X3D @ -30mv All core

I would personally look for the 6950xt

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

Depending on the games the OP plays I would even go down a cpu tier to get a 6950XT aswell.

You would lose AV1 encoding but honestly I think it's such a niche thing just now that 99% of people won't care.

Hey Bagzie,

Thanks for that. The price difference is quite significant as the 5600mhz is on sale for a about 80 quid less so not worth the upgrade now in my mind

Also in that case, I will definitely look at the Peerless Assassin so, thanks for the recommendation! Also, Thanks for the video recommendation, I ended up watching that last night. However, two of my mates have suggested looking at the X series, as the MoBo seem to perform better for no apparent reason between there two systems, though I don't think it's really worth considering the price jump.

Ya, I had a look at that alright, but considering I don't really plan on upgrading any time soon after the build is made, I think I want to stick with newer hardware, just so I can really extend the time I have with it.  Tho still might have a further look into based on your recommendation.
