I'm considering either new 3060 or 4060 at this stage, unless I see a decent second hand - but my main concern is around bottleneck in the CPU - is my CPU sufficient to run a 4060 at max?

yes

Hi There, I was hoping to get some advice (or some assurance) about my selection of a new graphics card.

I'm currently running on an old NVIDIA GTX 1050, I am looking to upgrade to a GTX 4060, and I want to make sure my system can handle it.
I know a GTX 3060 runs smoothly on this rig (borrowed one) but I would like to look at a 4060 as long as I don't hit bottlenecking.

My current specs:
Mobo: Gigabyte H370 HD3 (BIOS Version F15)
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-9700F CPU @ 3.00GHz

RAM: Corsair DDR4 2666 C16 32GB
PSU: CoolerMaster 1000W

Running 1TB NVMe SSD for OS (Win11) and games (for now).

Games I play: Overwatch 2, World of Warcraft, Call of Duty (Battle Royale one), Fortnite and a smattering of latest Final Fantasy and Resident Evil titles.

Thoughts? Thanks in advance!

Get a 6700XT or 6750XT, better perf with more VRAM and around the same price (+- $30) pulls punches even at 1440p

And they're giving away starfield with sapphire one ($330) on newegg

I'd prefer to stick to NVIDIA, as I've had issues with AMD in the past. But thank you.

I switched to AMD a year ago and so far was a pleasant experience so I would highly recommend my above suggestion, but again it's your choice 😁.

Used rtx3070

Destroys the 4060 for probs around the same price, maybe youll get lucky and even score a good deal on a used 3080

Do you think that the 4060 or 3080 will be fine with my hardware?

If you are going for used also then definitely consider 3070 and 3080s because you have a 1000W PSU and later on if you plan to upgrade the CPU then you'll still have a very capable GPU with you .

Its not about bottlenecks because your cpu is capable enough to run 4060 but if you go for a 3080 or something you can always introduce caps to its performance but can't go the other way around
