Pc freezes randomly

Hello there,

my pc freezes randomly. For a little now, i have a 4090. Performance wise it’s amazing, 300fps at 1440p in Fortnite and elsewhere maxed out easily. I recently noticed that my pc randomly freezes. It does this in a game, word or YouTube. Since the first time this happened I always let my stats get displayed. I always thought that my 4090 is the problem, because before that I had a 4070ti and it worked just fine. Today it already happened 5 times. There is no overheating, overclocking or anything I can think of. Everytime it freezes I just hold press the on/off button. I don’t think that it’s good, but I think it keeps it safe from more harm. I only had the 4090 for a couple of days bevor I bought a lian li strimmer cable. It could be that the cable is causing the issue. Is there anything know that my hardware doesn’t harmonise. I’m just gonna display my stats:

ryzen 7 7800x3d

nzxt liquid cooler 360 (the new one with 640p and 60hz display)

B560 aorus elite v1.1 am5

32 gb 2x16 gb Corsair vengeance ddr5 6000mhz

4090 gigabyte master

samsung Evo 970 2tb 3.500mb/s

Hard to tell without some testing done first. When you say you got your 4090 recently, which GPU did you have prior ? Also, did you reinstall Windows or kept the installation you had before ?

If it freezes can you still hear the audio from whatever you were doing, for example can you still hear the game or the video you were watching?

In May or something like that I build a whole new rig, the 4070ti was the intentional card. After the card didn’t work I got a 4090. So I didn’t reinstall windows just for the 4090 but it is pretty new. Both were/are gigabyte master versions… Have a nice day too.

Everything freezes. Mostly I talk with my friends over dc and don’t notice that I am talking to nobody. So yeah, everything freezes but sometimes I can still press the windows key and my Homebar shows up. I can’t go out of the game and it doesn’t load new images. I already tried to shutdown the pc a intend when this happens, but it is then stuck on the loading screen. So: Shutting down…

Well, even among the cards of the same line-up you may need to use DDU or even reinstall Windows sometimes.

On the hardware side, you can make sure all the cables are properly plugged, especially the 4090's 16-pins power connector. By the way, do you know that the recommended PSU capacity is 1000W for the 4090 ?
