CPU Overheating Even After Replacing Cooler

Cybrok

Hi all. So I'm pretty stumped at this point. The other night out of nowhere my computer shut down due to a CPU overheat warning (first ever). After some repasting, I assumed the pump had just died and I ordered a replacement. However, once the new one was set up, I immediately went into the BIOS and see the temp starting at ~45C and watched it quickly climb to 90C and I had to shut it down, just like before. Not sure what it could be at this point if anyone has some ideas.

Hardware:
Intel i9-12900k

MSI MPG Z690 Edge Wifi

MSI MAG CoreLiquid 360r V2

Is the cooler secured properly on to the CPU?

Could be a faulty CPU check for warranty and dma it.

If the replacement was good, and it shoots up right at start up, then I'd say mounting pressure is not good.

Although the V2 of this AIO is also known for failing quickly, I was interested in it but after research, that's what I found.

Occassionaly visits the forum when I have nothing to do at work.

Sounds like either a bad CPU, or you got really unlucky and got a failed AIO then a dead on arrival AIO.. but that seems pretty unlikely. Other option could be a failed motherboard header. Some motherboards have an option to select whether you are driving an AIO or a fan, do you have that option and if so, did you have it set to be driving a pump instead of a fan?

I just put in a new AIO today and still the same issue. Noe sure if I have an option to select AIO or fan, but never set any of that and never had an issue till out of nowhere. having to get a new mobo would be a pain -_- but im pretty much at that point that thats probably the most likely issue

ive triple checked the pressure and it seems good. but i dont think that would be it when it fails out of no where, no heat issues prior. But i also just put a new one on (same thing just a replacement) and no better temps
