To add a little more context to this (I'm the person hillbill is asking for recommendations for) - I'm starting a new engineering job and need to get a laptop capable of running Solidworks, with the potential to run other engineering programs as well (ie. Simulation package, Ansys, COMSOL, etc). As far as I know, most of my work will be in Solidworks, but I may need to use those other programs as well. I will be using my student-provided Solidworks subscription for as long as I can (recent grad), if that makes a difference. The baseline requirement is just being able to run the programs I need for work, but ideeeeally it won't be too heavy or too large either since I'll be taking it to/from work with me every day. (Recommendations for sturdy laptop bags are also welcome!) The reason I need a laptop over a desktop PC is that I will be moving soon and working remotely from then on, and I already have a capable personal desktop PC at home. The laptop will be pretty much only for whenever I am working in the office before I move/not at home after I move.

Some cursory Google/Reddit searches led me to this: https://www.lenovo.com/us/en/p/laptops/thinkpad/thinkpadp/thinkpad-p16-(16-inch-intel)/len101t0041#tech_specs - does anyone have any opinions on the Thinkpad series? Pros/cons?
