Ram and cooling problems

I have a issue i want to place a exaust fan on to the top of the case so i can cool my ram down and get hot air out of the case, the cooler is a thermalright assasin 120 se and has 2 120 mm fans on it and when i try to place the fan the heatsink is in the way so when the fan spins it hits the heatsink. Any ideas on how i can use the fan in exaust on the top of the case?

What case?  Can you post a pic?  Other fans?  

 

Seriously doubt your RAM is overheating though.

I have a msi mid case i dont remember the exact name lemme look it up, its like a msi mag case i can send a picture wait.

My ram is currently at 61 celcius which i consider hot.

Understood but DDR4 for example is good til 80c or so.

 

Why you're checking your RAM temps is a bit much, are you running into any issues?

61c is perfectly fine.  nothing to worry about.

I want my exhaust fan here but it’s touching the heatsink when I spin it with my finger.Can I zip tie the fan on there?

If you are overclocking then ram temps definitely matter (atleast for proper overclocks) but if you arent you can just let em hit whatever temp

I’m using xmp that’s all I got Corsair venegrance 3600 mhz.

What do you mean by zip tie?  Don't you have screws for the fan, from the top?

 

Honestly though, the CPU Cooler having 2 fans is doing as much work to get warm air from off the RAM, the top fan won't do much right there.

Xmp is not what id consider an actual overclock, its just rated speedbin of the ram thats outside of jedec spec

 

At such slow <4400 speeds ram temp is pretty much the last thing you need to worry about especially when its just some generic xmp bin. Only exception being overclocked samsung b die or whatever other really temp sensitive ic but most ics arent gonna be that temp sensitive and with how conservative xmp usually is you really have nothing to worry about even if you do get a temp sensitive ic

 

I personally prefer <40c ram temps simply because i really crank the speeds of my rams with liberal voltage use at that (usually dumping volt into freq or trfc) so thatd be where ram cooling is neccesary, and then theres my crappy p6x58de that cant overclock for shit and can only do like 2040 or 1900 ddr3 cause dud board that cant run proper bclk where i can get away with running my 6x4 d9qbj at 2v without a fan simply because of how slow theyre running and loose primaries (9-12-12)

I wouldn't.  2 intake and 1 exhaust are perfectly fine, especially with a good CPU Cooler like that.

 

You have good airflow, going from front to back like a hair dryer.  Cool air in, hot air out.

 

Same exact setup I have in my Plex server.  2 in, 1 out.

I'd remove it or get a thinner fan, but most likely not have it.  

 

If you look at how the air moves in the case, this just isn't a natural flow.  If you had 3 fans on top, you could control the flow as a whole.

 

But 1 fan like that?  Ain't going to do anything.  

 

Might as well hotglue a small 60mm fan to the motherboard on the RAM, if you want to cool them.

 

Besides, since only you think they're hot (which they are not), it's not even needed at all.

You mean have 3 intake?  

 

Take temp check now in some game you can replicate.  Then add it, and rerun the game for temps.

 

See what provides better cooling.  I think it may help a degree or two possibly.

Idk I googled something about having intake on the top of the case it says it builds up dust more easily

That fan above the ram would do much better as an intake.

 

Not only will it cool your ram, but it will feed your CPU cooler, instead of robbing it.

Are you talking about the fan on the cpu cooler or are you talking about the system fan?

The system fan I guess. The one that is right over the CPU and ram. You have it as exhaust right now, it should be intake.

I’ve tried that in my case. Worse temps on cpu and gpu than having it exhaust. Fighting natural convection.
