Power Supply PC Problems

My pc is unable to post when I plug my gpu into the power supply, but it is able to post when the gpu is unplugged from the psu. I did manage to get it working where I have the gpu plugged into a separate power supply. Whenever I try and have my whole system plugged into one psu, the power supply just clicked when I attempt to turn it on. I know its not an issue with the capacity of my power supply as i'm using a 1000W psu and an 850W to test. Anyone have any tips?
